Darr

Tumse door jaane se dil ghabrata bhi hai
Jaise kisi surkh bageeche mein patjhad aa jaaye;
Jaise koi toofaani thapedon se
gharon mein tabaahi macha jaaye;
Haan,
tumse door jaane se dil ghabrata hai,
Raaton ki neend toh jaise ek sundar sapna
ban ke reh gayi ho,
Tumhari bachkaana hasi ne
hoton ko hasne pe
majboor sa kar diya ho;

Kahan jaau main tumse door?
Kyun jaau main tumse door?
Tum toh kabhi paas the hi nahi;
Bas ek yaad the:
Sapne jaise
jaise kisi dhue mein lipti hui chingari
Rangon se roshan kar deti hai
gharon ki parchayion ko;
Jab tak woh laal-naarangi rang
Raakh na ho jaayein,
Kaise chali jaau tumse door?
Jin aankhon mein apna astitva dekha tha
un aankhon se kaise aankhein churau?
Pyaar shabd se dil ghabrata hai ab
Tumhari hasi pe vishwaas karu ya tumhari gayab hasti pe?

Silent Night

The stars were silent
as if they had lost
their keys to shine;
Lost in reflections
Of others,
Relentless waves
Of cold brine water
Swept them away
Like a lover's embrace:
It was a night of silence,
Yet,
The gushing waves
Hesitantly attempted
To peek through
the trappings of sandy wounds
To ease anew
a familiar pain:
Engulfing,
relentless,
Like persistent echoes
Trapped within
a lonely sea-shell,
Abandoned
By the faeries
(Their footsteps disappearing
with each silent whisper)

Dry Paper

Empty words
fall for ream after ream of blank paper:
creamy, rich,hollow.
She, with baggage,
(those selective wounds
of no consequence)
chooses to breathe
day after day,
in busy days
and in forgotten dreams
of tired nights;
And
He,
with words,
as vacant as
his eyes,
all sparkle stolen,
angry, repulsed
seductive,
conjoin in moments
of inky wetness
like tears
that soften
with abrasive salt
the dry cheek
of a lonely mother

Sparkling Waters

Like the waves that cocoon
the empty wind,
protecting it against the falling snow,
the same wind,
which gives up its warmth
for shivering blades of grass,
I will catch your tears before
they fall to the ground,
soothing the burning trail
with cool kisses
and some laughs
over hot cups of tea:
my soul breathing in eternity
through those child-like, uncontrolled
laughs

The Heart's Home

The scent of green apples
screams like wind in a child's ears,
who runs through the storm,
Awe-struck, unafraid.
Whispers of the river
echo in the night,
resplendent with a million stars and more;
Far-away in the pine-struck forest,
crickets continue with their eternal racket;
Dew continues to fall
and the grass trembles
with cold and pleasure,
Indistinguishable,
its distinctive green
brightened by the occasional light;
A soft sob erupts from somewhere deep,
and threatens to break the peace
of the night;
But it is only another nightmare:
The night moves on
to its next demise.

Burnished Snow

Misty waves flow with
dizzying accuracy,
laughing at feeble human attempts
at configuring,
and re-membering;
Crystals of startling brilliance
glare unflinchingly at pained
and dimmed eyes;
Manipulating hands
lie cold,
bitten with blue shards:
Turning purple and red hues
to its eternal shade of solid ice

Dreaming of You

Dreaming of You

Like the dream I never had,
you seep into the mind,
like that thought hovering
just beyond.
 A little further,
like a startled butterfly,
you fly away, your name
echoing in the vastness of
nothingness,
that eternal yearning which seems
to be almost fated
in its seasonal rhythms;
Like the rain that sends a scent
you leave me peaceful,
sometimes
(When it's not important);
I dream of you
    in the spaces of my sometimes.
